GNU to take oath at Benghazi HoR session and budget to be approved at Tripoli session: GNU

(GNU).

The most prominent points made by Tripoli-based Libyan Prime Minister Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba at the Third Regular Cabinet Meeting for 2023 held yesterday in the city of Khoms were:

Political status, elections, UNSMIL head

– Today we are stronger in expressing the strong will of the Libyan people to hold parliamentary and presidential elections according to fair and impartial laws.

– The vision of SRSG and UNSMIL head Abdoulaye Bathily, during his briefing to the Security Council, corresponded with our vision and the will of the Libyan people to hold elections.

– We renew our commitment and readiness to do everything that is entrusted and required by the government to conduct the electoral process, and we have provided the required support to the High National Elections Commission (HNEC).

– We asked the United Nations to raise the level of coordination so as to raise the level of readiness of all stakeholders in the electoral process.

– We reiterate our position in support of peaceful change away from deals and circumvention of the will of the Libyan people.

– Ensuring that elections are held is not by changing the government and the HNEC, as the owners (the House of Representatives and High State Council) of this (political) manoeuvre claim, who have been in power for many years without elections and renewal.

Audit bureau, disclosure, transparency, equitable distribution, salaries, grants, electricity

– The Government of National Unity confirms its commitment to the principles of disclosure and transparency.

– We worked with everything stipulated in the financial regulations of the state, and we were more responsive to the observations of the Audit Bureau.

– We are keen on equitable distribution of development projects in the fields of energy, health and education.

– Observations received regarding the unified salary scale will be taken into consideration.

– We have implemented our promises that we announced on Youth Day in this city in 2021, and work continues despite the circumstances and challenges.

– We have made great progress in managing grants and improving salaries.

– We have disbursed scholarships, raised basic salaries and pensions, and continue to work on disbursing scholarships for students, youth housing initiatives, and health insurance for retirees.

– In preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, grants and salaries will be disbursed for three months for 2023, and we have also formed an Emergency Room to follow up the flow of supply of commodities, adjust prices, and limit price violations.

Traders should act with patriotism and not use this blessed month to raise prices and increase burdens on the citizen.

– We are still working on reactivating stalled projects and launching new ones.

– We promised the beloved Libyan people to deal with the problem of electricity that has been inherited for years, and the results are positive and have become a tangible reality, and work is continuing to complete the plan to develop the electrical network.

– I renew directives for all ministries to implement all government decisions related to reducing expenses and follow transparency in contracts and requests through the government procurement platform.

– We will not protect anyone involved in corruption or negligence in serving the Libyan people.
