Libya and Tunisia sign multiple economic and transport agreements

Libya and Tunisia signed multiple economic, trade and transport agreements yesterday on the back of a high-level Tunisian ministerial delegation visit to Tripoli.

Economy and trade
On the economic and trade front, the two sides discussed ways to develop trade relations between the two countries and provide the necessary facilities for companies and businessmen.

Libya stressed the importance of supporting the private sector in the two countries and enhancing its role in activating the commercial movement. It also stressed facilitating administrative and financial procedures related to Libyan businessmen and supporting investors to contribute to the implementation of investment projects and the development of infrastructure in both countries.

The agreements signed covered:

  • The formation of a joint working group that undertakes a study to establish a joint border economic zone at the Ras Jedir area.
  • Facilitating the transactions of Libyan businessmen represented in administrative and financial procedures.
  • The free flow of goods between the two countries with the lifting of all bans related to that.
  • Formation of a joint working group to develop a vision for food and drug security in the two countries.
  • Work on inviting Libyan and Tunisian businessmen to participate and invest in infrastructure projects established in the two countries.
  • Emphasizing the implementation of the agreement of mutual recognition of the certificates of conformity and quality.
  • To facilitate the procedures for entry of goods and goods of foreign origin supplied to the country Libya through the Tunisian outlets.
  • Conclusion of a twinning agreement between the Libyan Competition Council and its Tunisian counterpart
