Benghazi, 1 September 2017:
Beida-based interim prime minister Abdullah Al-Thinni has formally reappointed Arish Saeed as head of the foreign media authority.
Saeed was dismissed by Thinni at the beginning of February amid corruption allegations. He was replaced by Atef Miloud Al-Hasiya at the end of April. However, a month later a legal appeal against his dismissal was upheld by the appeals court in Benghazi. Three months on, Thinni has now told the head of the information and culture authority, Khaled Najem, to implement the court ruling and give Saeed his job back.
He has said he will start work on Monday, after the Eid holiday.
The foreign media authority was an independent organisation until February. At the time he removed Saeed, Thinni ordered that it be incorporated into the Information and Culture Authority. That still stands.
