HoR dialogue committee chairman not going to Hague meeting

Tunis, 6 July 2017:

The head of the dialogue committee in the House of Representatives (HoR), Abdussalam Nassiyah, is not going to The Hague as part of the HoR’s team to talk to the State Council (SC) about possible changes to the Libyan Political Agreement. The team is supposed to go The Netherlands tomorrow, Friday.

One suggestion is that Nassiyah refuses to meet with the SC delegation led by Abdulrahman Sewehli. This is put down to the fact that he is from Zintan while Sewehli is from Misrata. He is also reported to be opposed to the Dutch initiative, believing that it should be left to the Untied National to organise. In any event, he is known to be opposed to the idea of a dialogue with the SC taking place outside the country.

They are said to have been selected according to their political groupings.

Benghazi MP Ziyad Daghim, another member of the dialogue committee, is also said not to be going to The Hague. However, this is believed to be for personal reasons.
