Tripoli, 30 June:

The head of the Election Security Committee in the Ministry of Interior, Omar al-Khadrawi, held a meeting with relevant . . .[restrict]departments and members of the media to review and follow up on the steps taken with regards to the awareness campaign aimed at guiding Libyan citizens on the importance of cooperating with the security entities in order to ensure the success and security of the electoral process.

The final security arrangements being taken by the various coordinated official entities in all the regions and cities of Libya in order to reassure voters and encourage them to take part in the elections were also reviewed.

On the other hand, the head of the media committee at the Ministry, Colonel Mohamed Mersal, said that his committee will use all the various forms of media to communicate with citizens the need to cooperate with security personnel to ensure the right to vote in these elections and the right for the authorities to protect the process and the voting centers during the elections.

To this end, Mersal informed that the media committee is organizing a number of seminars and radio interviews on the topic of securing the elections on the bases of the principle of ‘your right to elect and our duty to secure this right’. [/restrict]
