In an inauguration ceremony today, the Misrata based Libyan Iron and Steel Company (LISCO), launched a project to process and recycle electric furnace slag.
The event was attended by the company’s Chairman and Board members, alongside various officials and managers from departments and units associated with the project.
LISCO said this initiative aligns with its strategy to prioritize environmental stewardship and utilize industrial by-products from its core production operations. It reinforces its commitment to environmental and social responsibility, as well as its dedication to being a good neighbour to the surrounding geographic and demographic communities.
The project involves processing, crushing, and recycling electric furnace slag, as well as recovering scrap metal and other reusable materials. These recovered materials will supply industries such as iron, cement, construction, and road paving.
This initiative is both a sustainability and environmental conservation project and a promising investment venture undertaken in partnership with the private sector. It supports the company's drive to optimize the use of industrial waste by transforming it into valuable economic resources.
The project is being implemented in partnership with Emkanat General Contracting and Real Estate Investment Company.
