Libya and China addressed various areas of bilateral cooperation, including mechanisms for the return of Chinese companies to Libya to resume their suspended activities, as well as the implementation of new projects in the fields of infrastructure and renewable energy.
The discussions came as part of efforts to support and strengthen the existing cooperation between the two states in a meeting between, Ashraf Mohamed Al-Tayeb, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Tripoli Foreign Ministry today, at the Tripoli headquarters of the Ministry, with Ma Xiu Liang, Ambassador of China to Libya.
The two sides also discussed benefiting from Chinese expertise in training and capacity building, information and communications technology, and enhancing Libya’s role in the Belt and Road Initiative by integrating the country into logistics and trade projects associated with the initiative, thereby strengthening Libya’s position as a regional hub for trade and transportation.
Preparations for the forthcoming Libyan-Chinese Forum in Tripoli
The meeting also addressed ongoing preparations for the forthcoming Libyan-Chinese Forum in Tripoli, as well as efforts to expedite the convening of the next session of the Joint Economic Committee, in a manner that contributes to strengthening economic and trade cooperation and cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.
The Tripoli Foreign Ministry said two sides underscored the importance of completing the procedures related to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on mutual visa exemption for citizens of the two countries, as well as implementing the Economic and Trade Cooperation Development Programme Agreement concluded between Libya and China.
