Following the public controversy over the contested oil revenue figures published by the Central Bank of Libya and the National Oil Corporation, the Audit Bureau issued a clarifying statement today regarding the flow of oil revenues for the period from 1 to 15 October 2026.

It said this comes as part of its ongoing monitoring of data released by the Central Bank of Libya and the National Oil Corporation (NOC).

The Bureau stated that the total revenue collected in the NOC’s accounts at the Libyan Foreign Bank (LFB) reached US$ 1,447,655,717. Of this amount, $864,569,929 was transferred to the fuel account, while $577,412,883 was transferred from the Libyan Foreign Bank to the Central Bank of Libya as of 15 October 2026.

The Bureau further noted that the projected value of oil exports through the end of October is estimated at approximately $3,215,454,196, with outstanding obligations for fuel imports totalling $1,549,515,927.

The Audit Bureau emphasized the necessity of ensuring complete accuracy and transparency when publishing financial data to avoid causing any disruption in the parallel market or affecting exchange rates, and to prevent discrepancies in the reported figures.

It is to be noted that the Libyan dinar has broken through the LD 10/dollar psychological mark.

Joint Committee formed to reconcile figures and standardise reports
Additionally, the Head of the Audit Bureau issued Decision No. (639) of 2026, establishing a Joint Committee—comprising representatives from the Audit Bureau, the Central Bank of Libya, the Ministry of Finance, the National Oil Corporation, and the Libyan Foreign Bank—tasked with reconciling figures and standardizing reports.
