The executive management of the Libyan Businessmen Council (LBC) held a virtual meeting with a representative from the Canadian Embassy’s Trade Section—attended by the LBC’s General Assembly Vice-Chairman—to discuss ways to expand cooperation between the private sectors of Libya and Canada.
The meeting addressed cooperation opportunities across several sectors, most notably oil and gas, training and professional development, and education. Discussions also covered organizing joint meetings and seminars, connecting Libyan companies with their Canadian counterparts, and encouraging participation in trade exhibitions and trade missions.
The LBC also highlighted its long-standing relationship with the Canadian side, noting the participation of its members in various events and exhibitions in Canada over the years. Additionally, the LBC emphasized the strong cooperation established with the Embassy and relevant Canadian trade entities, which has positively facilitated the travel and movement of businesspeople and Council delegations for commercial and professional purposes.
During the meeting, the LBC presented an overview of the "Libya Means Business" initiative and the opportunities it offers Canadian companies, particularly in the energy, construction, and training sectors.
Both parties agreed to maintain communication, exchange information, and work on developing practical programmes and activities to boost the presence of Canadian companies and open broader avenues for cooperation between businesspeople in both countries.
