The 444th Combat Brigade, part of the Western based Libyan Army, reported yesterday that, following a successful pursuit, Libyan Army detachments intercepted three trucks transporting irregular migrants attempting to cross the border illegally.

The individuals involved were apprehended and referred to the competent authorities for legal proceedings.

The 444th Combat Brigade said Libyan Army detachments continue to carry out their national duty amidst the harshest summer conditions in the vast desert—where the only shade is the open sky—maintaining their posts at the borders, pursuing smuggling gangs, and guarding strategic points.

They, it added do so to protect the homeland and confront networks involved in human trafficking, drug smuggling, and all activities that threaten Libya’s security and stability.

This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by Libyan Army units to secure the borders and combat organized crime, despite the harsh climate and challenging terrain.
