Misrata Free Zone signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Italian Confederation of Industries for Africa and the Mediterranean (CIME), the international arm of the Italian Confederation of Industries (CIE), and the Libyan-Italian Joint Chamber of Commerce, as part of its efforts to expand its international partnership network and strengthen economic and investment cooperation between Libya and Italy.
MFZ said the MoUs aim to establish an institutional framework for cooperation in the areas of investment, trade, logistics, ports, and industry, to attract Italian investments to MFZ, encourage the implementation of joint projects, and facilitate the exchange of economic and investment expertise and information.
The MoUs also stipulate the organization of economic forums and business meetings, the exchange of trade and investment delegations, the holding of workshops, and enhanced cooperation in institutional promotion. This will create a favourable environment for establishing strategic partnerships between the Libyan and Italian business communities and leverage the Free Zone's strategic location as a gateway to African markets.
The signing of the MoUs came on the back of the marketing tour organized by the MFZ in Rome on 9 July. The marketing tour aimed at expanding MFZ’s international partnership network and solidifying its position as a logistics and investment hub connecting Europe and Africa, attracting quality investments, boosting trade, and supporting economic development between the two countries.
