Economy Minister Hwej reviews his ministry’s implementation of its 2023 plan and issues several directives

The Industrial Research Centre in Tajoura, Tripoli, organized a workshop yesterday, on the reality of local industries and supporting exports and imports under regional agreements, under the slogan “Industry, Quality, Trust.”

The workshop was attended by the Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Al-Hwej, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals for Production and Industrial Zones, Mustafa Al-Samou, and Al-Sadiq Bashir, Director General of the Industrial Research Centre.

The workshop addressed the current state of industry in Libya, the challenges facing the reactivation of stalled industrial projects, and attracting foreign investment to establish industries utilizing available natural resources. Attendees also viewed a presentation on the integration of national raw materials and industrial research to enhance industrial quality and support exports.

In his address, the Minister emphasized that the industrial sector is witnessing remarkable growth, and that it is imperative to unify efforts to develop a clear national industrial policy. This policy aims to strengthen the presence of Libyan products in foreign markets, contribute to the GDP through non-oil exports, and support small traders and owners of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to improve product quality and thus achieve genuine competitiveness both locally and regionally.
