The Ministry of Housing and Reconstruction signed two Memoranda of Understanding yesterday with two leading international companies in the water and infrastructure sector, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen vital infrastructure in Libya.
The signing ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Housing and Reconstruction, Abubakr Awidat, in the presence of Firas Bin Ghassab Al-Harbi, CEO of the Saudi Amiantit Group, whose subsidiaries include the German company PWT, which specializes in water technologies.
The Memoranda of Understanding were signed on behalf of the Ministry of Housing and Reconstruction by Engineer Abdul-Mawla Azouma, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Affected Areas, and on behalf of the Amiantit Group by Mr. Firas Bin Ghassab Al-Harbi, CEO of the Saudi Amiantit Group.
The Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Housing and Reconstruction includes cooperation in developing integrated solutions for water transmission and distribution, sewage networks, and stormwater drainage.
The Memorandum of Understanding with the German company PWT includes cooperation in introducing water and wastewater treatment and desalination technologies and providing solutions for water infrastructure.
Minister Abubakr Awidat affirmed that the ministry seeks, through these partnerships, to benefit from successful experiences and expertise, develop local cadres, and achieve the sustainability of projects, in line with the priorities of the Tripoli government in improving the quality of life and basic services for citizens.
