Economy Minister Hwej reviews his ministry’s implementation of its 2023 plan and issues several directives

Libyan companies, under the auspices and supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, participated in the second edition of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Business Forum in Marrakech, Morocco.

The forum was inaugurated by the Head of the Moroccan Government, Aziz Akhannouch, in the presence of Riadh Mezouar, Minister of Industry and Trade; Omar Hejira, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade; Wamkele Kitwe, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA; and Rebecca Greenspan, Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

The Ministry of Economy and Trade said this participation comes within the framework of its efforts to open foreign markets for Libyan products and create new opportunities that support the path of economic diversification in Libya.

It is worth noting that a delegation from the Ministry of Economy and Trade conducted a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco in November 2025. The visit included extensive meetings with several officials from the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade and the High Commission for Planning, as well as visits to the Casablanca Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services, the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab Maghreb Union in Rabat, and the Sub-Regional Office for North Africa of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.

This participation, the Economy Ministry added, is one of the most significant outcomes of those visits, reflecting its commitment to strengthening economic and trade cooperation and consolidating ties with regional and international partners in service of the national economic interest.
