Following an existential attack by House of Representatives (HoR) Speaker Ageela Saleh yesterday, the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) responded immediately.
The SJC affirmed their commitment to the unity of the Libyan judiciary and their unwavering dedication to preserving its independence and protecting it from anything that might compromise its vital role in establishing justice and the rule of law. They emphasized the importance of unifying efforts to address the challenges facing the judicial institution
The SJC’s response came after holding a meeting on the same day at its headquarters in Benghazi. The meeting, attended by its president and members, was dedicated to discussing several items on the agenda related to judicial affairs and the functioning of the courts and public prosecution offices.
The meeting also addressed several organizational and administrative matters. The Council adopted several decisions aimed at supporting judicial work, enhancing its efficiency, and ensuring its smooth operation in the interest of justice and litigants.
The SJC said the meeting is part of its ongoing efforts to improve judicial performance, strengthen public trust in the judicial institution, and solidify the principles of judicial independence.
