Misrata Municipality reported last Wednesday (19 November) that it followed up on the meeting hosted by Misrata Free Zone (MFZ), chaired by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, and attended by the Mayor of Misrata, the Head of the Infrastructure Committee of the Municipal Council, the Hungarian Consul, and a delegation from Rotary International Ltd.
Also participating in the meeting were the Chairman of the Libyan Iron and Steel Company (LISCO), the Chairman of MFZ Management Committee, and the Director of the Technical Affairs Department.
The meeting discussed a project to establish a major desalination plant under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) partnership, as well as a cement plant project utilizing environmentally friendly technologies, with the aim of enhancing water and industrial security and supporting national production.
Misrata Municipality affirmed that these projects are part of its efforts to strengthen the city’s position as a growing industrial centre and to support vital infrastructure and services, thus contributing to achieving sustainable development.
