The Ministry of Water Resources has commissioned an engineering team from the Turkish company Fermak to assess the structural and operational status of Wadi al-Majanin and Wadi Ghan dams.
This came after the Director of the Dams Department at the Ministry of Water Resources conducted a field visit last Sunday (28 September) to the Wadi Al-Majinin Dam and Wadi Ghan Dam sites.
The visit was attended by specialized engineers from the Turkish company Fermak and site supervisors. This was in implementation of what was agreed upon at the conclusion of the meeting held at the Ministry’s headquarters on 24 September 2025, headed by the Undersecretary General and the general manager responsible for running the Ministry’s duties. The visit was attended by the Director of the Office of the Executive Director.
During the visit, the Director of the Dams Department provided a detailed technical explanation of the construction aspects of the two dams, their operating equipment, and the potential challenges they may face in light of sudden weather fluctuations associated with global climate change.
For its part, Fermak dispatched specialized evaluation engineers, who reviewed the field conditions and affirmed their commitment to taking the technical comments and opinions raised into consideration when preparing the final report.
The Director of the Dams Department emphasized the importance of expediting the submission of a comprehensive and detailed report assessing the construction and operational status of the two dams, and reviewing what was observed during the visit, in preparation for taking the necessary measures.
