The Acting Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdel Sadig, held two separate meetings with the Head of the EU Delegation to Libya, Nicolas Orlando, and the German Ambassador to Libya, Ralf Tarraf, where they discussed the prospects of cooperation in the fields of energy and energy transition.
During the two meetings, the Minister praised the Energy Generation Initiative and its events such as the National Energy Exhibition and the Libya Conference for a Just and Sustainable Energy Transition. He considered these successes important momentum for cooperation with European partners, while stressing the importance of smart and sustainable investment to ensure the diversification of the energy mix and increase reliance on renewable energies.
The minister also reviewed with the German ambassador the progress made by the government in achieving the goals of the energy transition, pointing to the ministry’s vision to achieve a balanced mix of oil, gas and renewable energies by 2035, and to enhance the business environment to increase investments and create job opportunities for youth, in addition to Libya’s commitment to reduce gas flaring to a complete halt by 2030.
Abdel Sadig stressed that Libya is open to European and international partnerships in the field of energy, and continues to invest its resources to build a strong and sustainable energy future.
