Libyan Fund signs MoUs with Italian companies in health, infrastructure, clean energy & environment

The eastern based Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund announced yesterday that it had signed memoranda of understanding with Italian company GKSD S.r.L in the fields of health, infrastructure, clean energy, and the environment.

Italian delegation led by Italian Intelligence Service
The memoranda were signed on the sidelines of the meeting between Belgasem Khalifa Haftar, Director General of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, and the head of the Italian Intelligence Service, who led a high-level official Italian delegation, accompanied by the President of GKSD S.r.L.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the National Development Agency, and several heads of the leading hospitals, Oncology Centres and Children’s Hospitals in the eastern region, as well as representatives of the Fund’s Medical Supply Authority and Project Management Authority.

Prospects for strategic cooperation between Libya and Italy
The Fund reported that the meeting discussed prospects for strategic cooperation between Libya and Italy in the fields of health, medical training, infrastructure, clean energy, and waste management and conversion to energy, strengthening practical partnerships that support sustainable development.

Field visits and technical meetings held
The meeting was preceded by a series of field visits and technical meetings conducted by the Italian delegation, including inspections of hospitals and health projects in Benghazi and al-Marj, to review the progress of work and its actual needs.

The Fund reported that both sides emphasised that these agreements represent a new beginning for strategic cooperation between the two countries and open up broad horizons for sustainable development partnerships.
