The Tripoli based Libyan government reported today that after a closure of more than 13 years, the Syrian embassy in Tripoli reopened today.
The reopening coincided with the visit of a delegation from the Syrian Foreign Ministry, headed by the Deputy Director of the Arab Affairs Department at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mohammad Jaffal, and his accompanying delegation.
It will be recalled that last Monday (18 August), the Ministry of Transport’s Airports Authority reported that Tripoli’s Mitiga airport received the first Syrian Airlines flight. It stated that this would be the first Syrian Airlines flight to land in Libya since the outbreak of the February 2011 Revolution.
