The Attorney General’s Office reported yesterday that the Public Prosecutor has ordered the detention of the head of the National Cancer Authority and the head of the Public Tender Committee.

‎The Attorney General’s Office reported that the Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Anti-Corruption Prosecution, within the jurisdiction of the Tripoli Court of Appeal, examined the regularity of the procedures for importing drug items used in the treatment of tumours.

The investigator inferred that the National Cancer Authority’s official violated the controls for managing some contracts for the purchase of medicines, and the official of the Public Tender Committee violated the rules of contracts and the regulations governing the contracts entrusted to him to conclude.

Consequently, the investigator concluded that the defendants were to be held in pretrial detention pending investigation.‎
