The Attorney General’s Office reported last Friday (9 May) that the Public Prosecution has ordered the detention of the General Manager of Al-Madar Mobile Phone Company, and officials of the company’s Media, Human Resources, and Procurement Departments.
The Public Prosecution, the Attorney General’s Office reported, examined the reports of the Audit Bureau, which included proof of the disposal of LD 3.575 million in violation of the financial regulations in force in the company.
The investigation revealed that the defendants practiced unfair behaviour represented in disbursing the amount in exchange for a commercial advertisement for two minutes, and accepting invoices worth LD 540,000, which included proof of the purchase of food on the celebration of the anniversary of the founding of the company. This was distributed to items, including meals of a whole lamb, the value of which was calculated at LD 17,500.
The investigator ordered their pretrial detention, pending investigation.
