Several MoU’s signed in Washington DC between Hafter’s Libya Reconstruction and Development Fund and US companies

‎The Libya Reconstruction and Development Fund reported yesterday that it had signed ‘‘many’’ memorandums of understanding with the US-Libya Business Association (USLBA) and ‘‘leading US companies and institutions’’.

The signings took place at the end of the ‘‘Libyan American Forum for Development and Reconstruction’’ held in Washington D.C. between (28 to 29 April. The event was co-organised by the USLBA and the Libya Reconstruction and Development Fund

The forum was headed by Belgassem Khalifa Haftar, Director General of the Fund, alongside a high-level Libyan delegation that included businessmen, university presidents and experts specialised in several fields.

The Fund reported that more than 90 American companies and institutions and several officials concerned with African and Middle East affairs attended the forum. ‎

‎The Fund reported that the forum included many discussion sessions and that the high participation reflects Libya’s commitment to openness to international partnerships and the promotion of development and reconstruction efforts to serve the aspirations of the Libyan people towards a prosperous and sustainable future.‎

Meanwhile, speaking to Libya Herald, leading Libyan businessman Husni Bey, who participant in the event’s panel 1 roundtable on ‘‘The Future Role of Reconstruction’’, said the MoU’s included the education, health, finance, infrastructure, technology, planning and AI sectors.

Naaman Elbouri, Tadawul chairman and former ATIB Chairman, who was on the event’s ‘‘Building Libya’s Digital Future: Tech-Driven Solutions for Access, Trust, and Scale’’ panel told Libya Herald that ‘‘there was a lot of emphasis on how the use of technology and AI today is reshaping banking, education, health and infrastructure’’.
