Libya’s state National Oil Corporation (NOC) reported today that its subsidiary, Zueitina Oil Company, succeeded in restoring its Al-Sabah oil field through the first production well G18.
This came after a hiatus of ten years following its sabotage in 2015.
The NOC said the well has a production capacity of about 600 barrels of oil per day, transported by mobile tankers to the Zallah field, located about 90 kilometres from the Sabah oil field. The first shipment of production will be transported on Sunday – the first shipment since 2015.
The NOC says, upon receiving the field, Zueitina developed an urgent plan to restore production in the field in two phases. The first phase is to restore production at two producing wells with a capacity of 1,200 barrels of oil per day.
The second phase included the installation of an early production plant in the field, to put about 17 wells on this plant with a production capacity of about 4,000 barrels of oil per day, during the last quarter of 2025. This, with the aim of bringing the field’s production after that to 5,000 barrels per day.
