The eastern based Libyan Prime Minister, Osama Hamad, met yesterday at his Benghazi headquarters representatives of the Belgian Jan De Nul group of companies, which specializes in marine projects. In the 1970s Jan De Nul worked on Tripoli port.
The meeting, which took place in the presence of two of Hafter’s sons, saw Hamad praise the capabilities of the Belgian company and its good reputation in the fields of marine projects of all kinds, welcoming its contribution to the implementation of major projects taking place in Libya within the comprehensive and unprecedented development plan.
It was agreed during the meeting to form a joint technical engineering committee to discuss and clarify the projects required to be implemented within the eastern Libyan government’s strategy and plans, and conduct field visits to various sites.
During the meeting, the company gave a detailed visual presentation on its activities, business, capabilities, users and major projects it has implemented around the world, such as the construction of Hong Kong International Airport and the Palm Island in the UAE, contributing to the expansion of the Suez Canal and the Panama Canal, the formation of artificial islands, the construction of dams, the reclamation of beaches and ports, and the expansion of marine canals.
Jan De Nul ‘s representatives, the eastern Libyan government reports, expressed their happiness with this meeting and their admiration for the development, reconstruction and development witnessed by Libya under the jurisdiction of the eastern Libyan government and the implementation and supervision of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, and in this regard, the company presented a technical and engineering offer for the maintenance of the port of Derna and increasing the depth level in the port, and it has expressed its full readiness and desire to participate in the implementation of various projects in its fields of expertise and specialization.
