Responding today to yesterday’s UN Security Council statement on Libya, the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, said he welcomed the Security Council’s statement on the situation in Libya.
He said the Presidency Council renews its call for the House of Representatives to reconsider its decision to unilaterally suspend the Libyan Political Agreement and to address the implications of this.
Al-Menfi said he accepted UNSMIL’s invitation to participate in a national dialogue to address the issue of the Central Bank of Libya within the framework of sovereign positions in accordance with the roadmap issued by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum
He also said he supports the work on what has been achieved by the 6+6 Committee and believe that resorting to the option of consulting the people on the remaining controversial articles to reach a national consensus with the aim of holding general elections under these consensuses before 17 February 2025.
