The Attorney General’s Office reported today that the Tripoli Criminal Court issued a verdict convicting the head of the political mission of Libya to Belgium (and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg) to seven years imprisonment for embezzlement.
The court, the Attorney General’s Office reported, investigated evidence proving that she violated the ethical obligations by deliberately contributing to the commission of an act of achieving illegal material benefits, unlawfully seizing public funds and causing harm to the public interest.
Besides the seven years prison sentence, she was fined twice the embezzled amount and deprived of her civil rights for the duration of the sentence.
