Misrata Chamber of Commerce, headed by its chairman Fathi Al-Amin Al-Turki, received at the Chamber’s Misrata headquarters on Monday (21 May) a delegation of Chinese companies specialized in contracting, construction, steel industries, investment and others.
Al-Turki began the meeting, attended by a group of local businessmen, introduced the projects carried out by the Chamber, the most prominent of which is the new Misrata Chamber of Commerce tower.
The attendees also introduced local companies to their companies and the extent of their dealings with the Chinese side in importing raw materials and manufactured materials.
For their part, the Chinese companies introduced their companies and their desire to invest in the Libyan market and make new partnerships with Libyan companies
The two parties discussed the possibility of the return of Chinese companies to the stalled projects in Libya and the importance of Chinese companies in the reconstruction in Libya, the most important of which are road and bridge projects, especially the roads linking the city of Misrata and southern Libya to Africa (the transit trade route).
Al-Turki also stressed the need to return Chinese investment to Libya in general and Misrata in particular, and the Chinese side was invited to open a Chinese consulate in the city of Misrata in order to facilitate the procedures for granting Chinese visas to Libyan businessmen.
