A meeting was held yesterday in the Cabinet Office of the Tripoli based Libyan government to follow up on the executive procedures for launching the system for granting electronic visas of all types to foreigners. These include tourist and work visas for foreigners.
The meeting follows on from the meeting of 1 November 2023 announcing the launch of e-visas and reciprocal exemptions to certain cohorts for certain countries.
The meeting included the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Adel Jumaa, the head of the General Information Authority, Abdel Baset Al-Baour, the head of the Passports and Nationality Department, Major General Youssef Murad, and the Director of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Director General of the Libyan Telecommunications Company, and several directors of the technical departments of the Passports and Nationality Authority.
An update presentation was made at the meeting a on the measures taken between the Passports Authority, the Ministry of Labour, and the Libyan Telecommunications Company regarding the mechanism for applying, paying, and granting visas to expatriate workers electronically, according to the required documents.
It was agreed on the necessity of activating electronic work visas and giving them priority for launch, in coordination with the Ministry of Labour, in accordance with controls that contribute to regulating expatriate workers.
