The 12th Arab Energy Conference, organized by the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) with the participation of the Ministry of Oil and Gas of the National Unity Government, concluded in the Qatari capital, Doha.

Meeting with Qatar
In an exclusive interview with Libya Herald, the Media Spokesman for the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Ahmed Al-Tarhouni, revealed a meeting on the sidelines of the conference between the Minister of Oil and Gas, Mohamed Aoun, and the Minister of State for Energy Affairs in Qatar, Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi, where the proposed projects and cooperation programmes in the country were discussed in the energy fields. At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to assign a joint team to coordinate joint and mutual work between the two countries during the coming years and implement them on the ground.

Meeting with Algeria
In the same context, Al-Tarhouni said that Minister Aoun and his accompanying delegation held a meeting with the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, the President of Sonatrach, and the President of the Algerian Sonelgaz Company, Titan. Where the two parties discussed aspects of cooperation and the exchange of expertise and technical experiences in the fields of exploration, production, manufacturing, maintenance, training and manpower.

Libyan security stability
Al-Tarhouni highlighted to the Minister of Oil’s request to the Algerian side to expedite the return to Libya to complete exploration operations, and to begin developing oil discoveries, which were delayed due to the state of instability that prevailed in the country in recent years. Minister Aoun pointed out that at the present time it is possible to benefit from the security stability in Libya, especially around the oil regions and sites, to implement what was agreed upon with the Algerian side during the past period.

Tarhouni noted the Algerian side’s confirmation of taking actual measures to resume work in the fields agreed upon with the National Oil Corporation, especially in the Hamada field, and the agreement to continue communication and coordinate efforts to put these intentions and agreements into practice.
