(GNU).

Last Tuesday, the Tripoli based Libyan government reminded its ministries of their Prime Minister Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba’s Circular No. 18 of 2023 (dated 12 December), which stressed the need to adhere to the provisions contained in the government procurement regulations.

Specifically, it reminded of the mechanism for announcing purchases through the government procurement platform, stressing that any procedure or exception that contradicts this will not be considered (legal) starting from 1 January 2024.

Aldabaiba reacts to accusations of profligacy
It will be recalled that the Aldabaiba government reacted to cases of profligacy cited in the damning 2021 Audit Report by announcing 12 restrictive spending measures in September 2022.
