The head of the Reconstruction and Stabilization Committee, Hatem Al-Araibi, confirmed to Libya Herald that work on building new bridges in the city of Benghazi is taking place at a rapid pace, with completion rates ranging from 40 to 60 percent.

He explained that the Egyptian companies executing the bridges are racing against time to finish the work according to the timetables and the required specifications that were set according to precise engineering controls under the supervision of specialized engineers.

Regarding the locations of the bridges, Al-Araibi said that there is:

1-A bridge at the intersection of the Fourth Ring Road with Al-Hawari Road (“the Directorate Bridge”).

2-A bridge at the intersection of the Fourth Ring Road with Al Orouba Road (“University Bridge”).

4-A bridge at the intersection of the Fifth Ring Road with the Airport Road (“Al-Masaken Bridge”).

5-A bridge at the intersection of the Fourth Ring Road with the Airport Road (“Al-Laithi Bridge”) .

He stressed that all the bridges are of importance in greatly reducing congestion, shortening time of journeys, and supporting the infrastructure in the city of Benghazi with new constructions. They contribute to the well-being of citizens and avoid stress when using public roads, he added.

Strategic importance
Meanwhile, during a visit to one of the five bridges’ construction site in July, Al-Araibi had said that the five bridges project are among the most strategic priorities.

It will be recalled that the Reconstruction and Stabilization Committee has embarked, in a short period of time, on several projects including the reconstruction of Benghazi University, the sports city, maintenance and development of several public housing buildings, paving roads and reconnecting sewage networks in most areas of Benghazi.

Quantum leap
Commenting on these achievements, Al-Araibi had said that ‘‘planning has become a reality and the dream has become a reality’’, noting that ‘‘2023 will be a quantum leap in the city of Benghazi through the completion of most of the strategic and service projects’’.

He had also expressed his gratitude to all companies working in reconstruction projects, asking them to increase the pace of work to complete all projects during 2023.
