A business delegation from the Libyan British Business Council (LBBC) including representatives from the banking, oil and gas, energy and power, risk management, construction, engineering, manufacturing, and environment services met key institutions and organisations in Benghazi from 12 to 16 June.

The delegation met members of the Benghazi Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (BENCCI); AGOCO; Jowfe Oil Technology; Manmade River Authority; Tatweer Research; the Salam Centre; the General Board of Privatization and Investment Board; Benghazi and Derna Reconstruction Fund; the Elmreisa Free Zone and the Al-Ryan Holding Group.

The leader of the delegation, former UK ambassador to Libya Peter Millet, said “We were extremely warmly received by all the companies and people we met in Benghazi. This visit was a real eye opener. We found a city buzzing with activity, reconstruction, entrepreneurship, looking for business contacts and wanting to build new partnerships with the United Kingdom”.

The LBBC said the whole delegation was very grateful to Muneim Elsaeiti, Chairman of the Benghazi Chamber of Commerce, and the team from BENCCI for the excellent programme they had arranged for the visit.

Gul Khan a member of the delegation commented: “Zulal Water Technology finds it exciting to be part of the LBBC delegation to Benghazi and quite thankfully, the LBBC has managed to work closely with BENCCI in securing meetings with decision makers and top brass from key business players of Benghazi as well as Libyan economy. This trip has brought promising opportunities for both the British and the Libyan companies who seek business development in Eastern Libya.”
