Tripoli-based Libyan Minister of Labour and Rehabilitation, Ali Alabed, discussed facilitating the entry of Egyptian workers for the Third Ring Road project in Tripoli, given the strategic importance this project represents.

The discussion took place on Monday, at the Ministry’s Tripoli office, with the head of the Passports and Foreigners Affairs Department, Major General Youssef Murad, to discuss several issues, most notably the labour market regulation file.

The Labour Ministry reported that they reviewed the mechanisms used for granting residency procedures, entry, and work visas after the activation of the Wafed platform.

The meeting also discussed the inspection campaigns launched by the Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation in all municipalities in cooperation with the Passports Investigation Department. The aim of these inspections is to count foreign workers in Libya and organise them according to the legal procedures followed.

The Ministry reported that Minister Alabed praised the efforts made, in particular, to ensure the regulation of the labour market by counting employment and controlling violations and providing new job opportunities for nationals, stressing his support for all efforts made in this file.
