The Greek Consulate in Benghazi confirmed last Thursday that from Sunday 12 February the VFS Global Visa Application Centre in Benghazi will start receiving Schengen visa applications.
The consulate said while the information on the website is currently only in English, it will soon be available in Arabic too.
It will be recalled that Greece’s Ambassador to Libya, Stavros Venizelos, had confirmed during his exclusive interview with Libya Herald on 2 February that Schengen visas through the consulate will start to be processed from Benghazi.
Visas to be issued from Benghazi by June?
Speaking by phone from Benghazi, the Ambassador had revealed that the Greek Consulate in Benghazi was not technically ready to issue visas locally but that their processing company, VFS Global, would start receiving applications in Benghazi and send them to Tripoli for processing.
He hoped visas could be issued from Benghazi by June.
