The second edition of the ‘‘Made in Algeria’’ exhibition (8 to 11 March) opened at the Tripoli International Fairgrounds Wednesday with the participation of 55 Algerian economic entities.
The exhibition was under the auspices of Libya’s Ministry of Economy and Trade with and the participation of the Misrata Free Zone as a strategic partner.
The exhibiting Algerian companies specialised in food processing, construction, medical materials, and electrical and industrial equipment.
The inauguration of the exhibition was attended by the Undersecretary of the Libyan Ministry of Economy and Trade for Free Zones Affairs, Nuri Gatati, and the Libyan Undersecretary for Commercial Affairs, Saad Al-Haneish, in the presence of the Ambassador of Algeria to Libya, Suleiman Shaneen, the Chairman of the General Union of Libyan Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Mohamed Raied, the Chairman of the Tripoli Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Anwar Abu Sitta and several owners of economic institutions participating in the exhibition.
Speaking exclusively to Libya Herald, the Chairman of Tripoli Chamber of Commerce, Anwar Abu Sitta, said that the holding of the “Made in Algeria” exhibition on the grounds of Tripoli International Fair in its second edition confirms the importance of exchange and cooperation between the two neighbouring countries. They have great economic potential that can be used for the benefit of both parties, contributing to diversifying sources of income and providing job opportunities.
He added that the holding of this exhibition by Algerian companies for the second time in Libya indicates the remarkable stability that Libya has witnessed recently. It also indicates the increasing economic growth and the return of activity to many projects in which Algerian companies can contribute. This can be by supplying some of the different products available in Algeria or by concluding contracts and agreements to implement some projects or to participate in operating and investing in them, he explained.
The chairman of Tripoli Chamber further added that the escalation of the volume of trade exchange between the two countries will increase if work is resumed at the (Debdeb-Ghadames) border crossing between the two countries, which would facilitate the movement of entry and exit of merchants, citizens, goods and services between the two countries.
