Germany’s GIZ launches Libya IT sector survey to assess employment potential, identify training gaps

Germany’s GIZ reported that 16 coaches, from national partner organizations and from organizations in the municipalities of Tripoli, Zintan, Sirte, Sebha, Benghazi, Wadi Otba, Misrata, Ghadames, and Awal, completed an in-person business coaches’ training course in Tunis from the 11th to 17th of May.

GTZ said the trainers will pass on what they have learned by training and coaching start-ups and small and micro enterprises and will help them launch or expand their businesses. During this training, the participants had the chance to practice their newly acquired skills with successful Tunisian entrepreneurs.

This activity was a joint initiative between the projects of ”Employment Promotion and Economic Development” and ”Support to Municipalities (SML)”. The programme is co-funded by the EU through the Trust Fund for North Africa (EUTF)- and the Germany’s BMZ.

The project is targeting 24 municipalities across Libya, nine out of which are new partner municipalities to the programme. It aims to contribute in improving inclusive local governance as well as socio-economic stabilization and development in municipalities.

The projects are implemented by GIZ in cooperation with the Libyan Ministry of Labour and the Libyan Ministry of Local Government and GIZ partner municipalities.
