UNSMIL welcomed yesterday the recent release of Faisel Gergab, the former head of the state telecoms holding company, the Libyan Post, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Company (LPTIC).
It also welcomed the release of Mohamed Al Giblawi, head of the General Student Union, and Mansour Atti, head of the Libyan Red Crescent Society in Ajdabiya.
The three were held illegally for long periods.
UNSMIL called ‘‘for the immediate release of all arbitrarily detained persons. All arrests and detentions must be based on the rule of law in line with Libya’s human rights obligations.’’, it added in its statement.
