Tripoli, 23 November 2021:
Libya’s High National Elections Commission HNEC announced today that by the end of yesterday’s deadline a total of 98 candidates had put their names forward for the country’s presidential elections.
The 98 included two females with 73 registering at HNEC’s Tripoli office, 12 at Benghazi and 13 candidates in Sebha.
HNEC will now process the 98 candidates together with the Attorney General and disqualify any that do not meet its and the country’s legal criteria.
The 98 candidates include Saif-Al-Islam Qaddafi, Khaifa Hafter and current Prime Minister Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba.
