Tripoli, 26 October 2021:
The Tunisian Health Ministry announced Saturday that passengers flying into its airports must have had a negative PCR test no older than 72 hours before entering the country.
This is a reversal of their 13 October announcement that had done away with the need for a PCR for those who had had their anti-Coronavirus vaccinations. The new regulation is effective as of tomorrow, Wednesday.
The return to the previous PCR test protocol is as a result of the development of global epidemic situation, the Ministry had said. This has been taken to mean the emergence of the new sub-species Delta Plus variant.
The new health protocol will be a blow to Libyans who, together with Istanbul, use Tunisia as their main exit point. Tunisia is also the first stop for health tourism. Many Libyans are also still waiting to have their second vaccination.
