The head of the High State Council (HSC), Khaled Mishri, has been re-elected as head of the HSC for another two-year term.
He defeated his rival, Salah Mito, in the second round by 73 votes to 55 – out of a total of 132.
Neither candidate had reached the necessary 66 vote threshold in the initial round of voting.
This is the fourth time that Mishri is elected as HSC head. He was first appointed as HSC head in April 2018.
