A workshop on preparing airport security programmes organized by U.S. firm Culmen International for the Libyan Airports Authority (LAA) started in Istanbul yesterday, the LAA reported.
The Director General of Mitiga Airport, the Director of the Standards Department at the LAA, the Director of the Security and Safety Office at Mitiga Airport, and the head and members of the committee assigned by the Chairman of the LAA to prepare security programmes for affiliated airports, are participating. Representatives from the Internal Security Agency, the Customs Authority and the Civil Aviation Authority will also participate.
During this workshop, the LAA explained, the methodology to be followed for the preparation of the airport security programme and the need to adhere to the implementation of the national programme for civil aviation security recently approved, will be discussed as the main reference for security measures to be taken at civil airports.
This, it added, is in accordance with what is stipulated in the annexes issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). On the side-lines of this workshop, the preparation of the Mitiga Airport security programme will be launched as a first stage.
