London, 1 July 2021:
For the first time since 2014, an Air Malta craft has landed at Tripoli’s Mitiga airport.
However, the flight is not a commercial flight but transporting a technical delegation to inspect the airport’s preparations to resume flights between Libya and Malta.
Commenting on the event, Malta’s Ambassador Charles Saliba tweeted ‘‘This is the first step to have Libya back on Maltese international line. Still some things to be finalized but what we promised is coming through. Together we can do it. Malta and Libya will stand for each other.’’
