ICC-wanted Warfali assassinated in Benghazi

London, 25 March 2021:

Unidentified gunmen assassinated ICC-wanted Mahmoud Warfali in Benghazi yesterday.

He was shot with a barrage of gunfire while travelling in a car in central Benghazi with his brother, who also died.

Warfali is wanted by the ICC accused of war crimes/human rights violations after video footage of him appeared on social media purporting to show him executing in cold blood three purported members of Ansar Sharia in 2017.

Another video appeared of him executing 10 people for allegedly setting off two car bombs in the Salmani district of Benghazi that killed more than 40 people.

The Khalifa Hafter Libyan National Army (LNA) mourned his death.
