London, 14 December 2020:
Libya will begin to issue new, safer versions of its diplomatic and private passports.
The news was revealed by the on Friday head of the Diplomatic Passports Department of the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tripoli.
It revealed that the new issues are able to go ahead after the completion of the new system, enabling new passports to hold electronic nano chips which are readable remotely. These are highly secure with the world’s highest passport-issuing technology and can store personal, text and biometric data in accordance with the requirements and recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Foreign Ministry explained.
The new version will start to be issued in early January, the Foreign Ministry added.
