The Tripoli-based Libyan Audit Bureau has approved a contract by the Tripoli-based Libyan Health Ministry to purchase anti-Coronavirus vaccines worth US$ 9.619 million, the Tripoli-based state LANA news agency revealed yesterday.
The report did not specify how many vaccines the amount would secure, how quickly and from which of the eleven or more manufacturers currently developing a potential vaccine.
A contract of this size and type would usually take months if not more than a year to be processed by the Audit Bureau. The Audit Bureau would also usually require detailed pro forma invoice with detailed product specification prior to final approval.
Yesterday, Libya’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 722 new positive cases with eight new deaths.
This brought the country’s total deaths to 1,025, recoveries to 44,733 and total infections to 74,324.
