Libya’s Tripoli-based Airports Authority announced yesterday that a committee formed by the Transport Ministry visited the unused and destroyed Tripoli International Airport on Monday with a ‘‘specialized Turkish’’ company to assess the damage to the airport
The committee toured the inside of the airport to inspect some of the buildings, facilities, systems and equipment at the airport to determine the feasibility of continuing to implement some of the contracted projects, to determine the need to cancel some contracts concluded and to carry out new work to rehabilitate the airport and to prepare for operation once the previously contracted (to Italian company) passenger terminal project is completed.
In a separate meeting by the committee on Tuesday it was decided to prepare new business areas for projects that have been affected by more than 90 percent damage in order that new contracts can be concluded for their implementation.
