London, 17 September 2020:
Libya’s state General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) announced another total electricity blackout in western Libya today. The announcement was made this morning and GECOL promised to return power soon.
Continuous acute power cuts since the internationally recognized Tripoli government headed by Faiez Serraj have been a major contributor to the protests at the end of August that have led to major political fallout in both western and eastern Libya, including the provisional resignation of the eastern government and the possible resignation of the Serraj government by October.
