London, 24 July 2020:
Further to our earlier report (20 July) that Misrata airport flights were planned to resume at the latest by next Sunday, Libyan Wings announced yesterday that it is indeed doing just that.
It will be recalled that we reported that Libya’s Airports Authority had announced on 19th July that Misrata airport will reopen for flights by Sunday 26 June at the latest – but only for departing passengers. No incoming passengers will be allowed. Libyan Wings airline has confirmed this.
The decision to resume at least outgoing flights came after the Libya’s Airports Authority held a meeting on 19 July with the country’s Civil Aviation Authority to discuss the degree of implementation by Libyan airports of anti-Coronavirus safety measures. It said Misrata airport could resume flights if it passed all the set Anti-Coronavirus safety measures. It seems as if it has.
Libyan Wings reported that its flights have been scheduled as follows:
Sunday : Departure from Misrata at 13:00 local time
Monday : Departure from Misrata at 19:00 local time
Wednesday : Departure from Misrata at 13:00 local time
Ticket sales will be available via its sales office at Mitiga Airport on Friday 24 July which will be open at 10:00 am, and from both Tripoli Tower and Mitiga starting from Saturday 25th July.
