London, 24 June 2020:
Libya’s Coronavirus cases have continued to rise despite curfews and inter-city travel bans. Yesterday, Libya’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported Coronavirus cases had reached 639 over the last five days, with 132 recoveries and 17 deaths.
The cases have been spread across the country.
Sources in Tripoli have reported to Libya Herald that the public are not keeping to the two-metre social distancing rule nor are they wearing masks in public.
The situation has been exacerbated by the stifling summer heat (reaching 40 degrees) and lengthy power cuts which have are forcing people out – especially to the beaches. Equally, having endured months of curfews the public have become increasingly resistant to them.
